CBD Oil Benefits: CBD for Pain Relief, Anxiety & More
CBD Oil Benefits
CBD oil has exploded in popularity over the last two years thanks to its purported benefits for a range of uses from skin care to multiple sclerosis.
While the anecdotal evidence of CBD benefits is overwhelming, science, for the most part, has yet to catch up – the only FDA-approved use of CBD is to treat two rare form of epilepsy called Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome. (The FDA is currently testing CBD for other uses, but the results have yet to be released).
However, studies published by the National Center for Biotechnology Information reveal there is legitimate scientific evidence to support the use of CBD for pain relief and anxiety reduction.
CBD for Pain Relief
CBD helps pain by reducing the sensitivity of endocannabinoid receptors in the body. CBD is most commonly used to reduce pain and inflammation related to the following ailments and conditions:
- Muscle fatigue
- Arthritis
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Chronic Pain
CBD for Anxiety
CBD has been shown to reduce anxiety by preventing excessive neuronal activity in the brain, which can also alleviate symptoms of insomnia and depression.
While CBD oil for anxiety is less concentrated and often less impactful than commonly prescribed drugs like Xanax or Valium, it carries far less risk of abuse and addiction.
Additional CBD Benefits
While there is currently a lack of scientific evidence to substantiate these benefits, user testimonials frequently cite CBD benefits for:
- Glaucoma
- Fibromyalgia
- Psoriasis
- Irritable bowel syndrome
